EquiShield® IBH Salve is a medicated topical treatment formulated to help manage insect bite hypersensitivity (IBH) in horses. IBH is a common allergic skin condition triggered by biting insects and can cause intense itching, inflammation, and skin irritation. This salve combines antiseptic, soothing, and anti-inflammatory ingredients that help calm irritated skin while supporting overall skin health.

The formula contains chlorhexidine gluconate to help cleanse affected skin, hydrocortisone to reduce inflammation, and pramoxine HCl to soothe itching and discomfort. Citronella oil provides natural insect-repelling properties, helping discourage further insect exposure. The thick salve consistency allows targeted application to irritated areas such as the mane, tail base, or other sensitive skin regions.

Citronella Oil – 1%
Hydrocortisone – 0.5%

Paraffin Wax

Petrolatum

Before Application

Clean the affected skin area and remove excess dirt or debris before applying the salve.

Application

Apply a thin layer of EquiShield® IBH Salve directly to irritated or insect-affected areas as directed by your veterinarian.
