What else should you be doing?
A. High dose vitamin E - why?
Penetrates spinal cord/muscle, easy, Vitamin E levels drop quickly in infections due to oxidizing, Vitamin E proven to help in nerve recovery, Immune stimulant.
Dose: Recommend in a 1000 lb - 1500 lb horse
Health E vitamin E (strongest horse vitamin E in US)
Week 1: 2 scoop AM + 2 scoop PM = 23,200 IU a day (1 scoop = 5800 IU)
Week 2: 2 scoop AM + 1 scoop PM = 17,400 IU a day (1 scoop = 5800 IU)
Week 3-8: 1 scoop Am + 1 scoop PM = 11,600 IU a day (1scoop = 5800 IU)
Week 9: 1 scoop a day for life = 5800 a day. On for life.
B. Thyro-L Thyroid powder - why? Immune stimulant, helps muscle metabolism to assist in stabilizing horse as walks/stand,
proven to help in nerve repair (see 3 articles on this at our Heiro site on Thyroid powder). Nerve repair helps in stability in walking, muscles to return that atrophies.
*Immune Stimulant, Nerve Repair Promotion
Inflammation reduces thyroid gland hormone output - vet can test T4 - will be in bottom or normal range = suboptimal. We need in top of normal to help muscle/nerves recover. 1000 lb horse - 2 scoops Thyrol = 24mg 1x/day in AM, retest in 30 days to see if getting to high end of normal. Range of T4 at Cornell is 1-3, so EPM horse will be 1.3 for example - we need at 30 day retest near 2.5 - 3.0 in high normal. On for life.
